Saw: The brilliant yellow foliage on this locust tree in last week’s bright sunshine.

Heard: Smooth jazz coming from a folding cart pushed by a man leisurely strolling up Winthrop.

Smelled: A sudden mouth-watering whiff of curry or stew or something delicious coming from someone’s house.

Tasted: The Jack-o-lantern chai latte with pumpkin syrup from The Lost Hours. Too sweet for me, but that was my own fault for getting it without espresso.

Touched: I was so touched by getting to chat with Kathy Herwig, the community steward for edgewater.chicago.com, about community building and hyper-local resources.
